From a $36M Series B fundraise, a slew of returning customers , and revenue more than doubling from Q1 to Q2, we’ve had a banner year at Holler - and we keep growing stronger. To help bring the company into a new phase of growth to match our recent momentum, we’re thrilled to welcome Bill Martens as our Chief Growth Officer.
Bill brings over two decades of leadership experience in the media and technology industries. He has a proven track record of creating, scaling and leading award-winning consumer products and businesses across multiple verticals, including news, entertainment and sports. An expert in developing and executing growth strategies, Bill will play a crucial role in bringing on critical strategic partnerships, fostering growth, and further developing the Holler platform as it continues moving forward as an innovator in conversational media.
“I’ve spent the bulk of my career building and scaling products in new markets, or innovating in existing markets and I was drawn to Holler for that very reason. There is a lot of white space within messaging to define a more engaging, personalized and rewarding consumer experience through conversational media. Holler has the opportunity to help define the next-generation ecosystem of messaging, and it’s built an impressive portfolio of talent, content IP, technology and capabilities that will help ensure its success. I’m excited to play an integral role in helping this exciting company become a globally recognized brand that is admired both for its success as well as its corporate values.” – Bill Martens, Chief Growth Officer.
Prior to joining Holler, Bill played a crucial role as SVP, Partner Solutions at BAMTECH Media (previously MLB Advanced Media) in developing the technology solutions behind some of consumers’ favorite streaming services, such as HBO Now and Eurosport Player. Bill then led the company’s international expansion as Managing Director, BAMTECH Europe through an Amsterdam-based joint venture. BAMTECH’s industry leading end-to-end solutions allowed premium rights holders in sports and entertainment - such as HBO, Sony, WWE, NHL, MLB and Discovery - to stream live events and deliver SVOD services directly to consumers at scale. BAMTECH was ultimately acquired by The Walt Disney Company, which deployed the streaming technology for ESPN+ and Disney+.
Before BAMTech, Bill served as VP & General manager of CBS News Digital at CBS Interactive, where he was responsible for the digital business of CBS News, including all web, mobile and connected device products, as well as CBSN, the first live, 24/7 direct to consumer digital news network. He was named a Broadcasting & Cable Digital All Star in 2015, and alongside his team at CBS News Digital won several Edward R Murrow awards as well as other industry recognition multiple times. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA and Masters in International Relations from Columbia University.
“Hiring our first-ever Chief Growth Officer is a pivotal milestone for Holler. We are excited to welcome Bill to the team and engage his powerful industry experience to help scale our platform and build this company into the media powerhouse we know it will be. We are very bullish on the market right now, and are confident that Bill’s expertise will help guide us to our ambitious goals.” – Travis Montaque, Holler’s CEO + founder.
Bill will be tasked with solidifying and growing Holler’s leading position in conversational media through partnerships with innovative platforms focused on enriching their user experience and driving engagement through messaging products and services, as well as with developing new growth strategies.
